I'll be starting a topic here about motorsports and general automotive stuff. I'll be adding something more here later, but I'd though that I'd start with these:

I guess that you guys can post whatever you want as long as it applies to auto racing or cars.

There's a big difference between sports car racing and NASCAR racing, namely better cars more relevant to current day production cars, no fist fights after races, and a less nutty, less fight fan base.

And yes, IMO, NASCAR sucks, and there's a reason why Audi has nothing to do with NASCAR and aside from selling stuff to teams, have next to nothing to do with the road racing series that they own, which has half way gone down the crapper in just one year.

I'd like to see some of these NASCAR drivers be taken to school by the Le Mans winners employed by Audi.

I'd like to see Michael Schumacher make a full recovery and enjoy the resyt of his life, but I do not think there is much chance of that either...

I have been into Motor sport in the past but its a different kind of racing entirely.. I used to 'Marshall' at Brands Hatch for the Britsh Motor Racing Sports Car Club.. and at Lydden Circuit for Rally cCoss.. Most times it was flag waving etc and one time I got to put out an engine fire in a race car... Exciting stuff.. I did Rally driving for a time too.

I also used to go to the track to do Outside Broadcaste reports for Radio stations..But that was a while back now..
I still go racing but only locally... Now its Short circuit racing of 'Old Cars'.. differnt classes of road cars stripped out and stregnthemed to withstand crashes etc.. Hot Rods, Stock cars and the like.. Smash 'em n' bash 'em.. Its all good fun.

Very interesting sport. I never realized how small a compartment the driver is in. The view from inside the car was very interesting. It must be very hard to drive that fast with those wide tires in the rain. Thanks for sharing the videos.... :sn:

They use special tyres for the rain.. slicks.. Years back when i was out in the community one of my clients hubby's was a member of the pit crew for F1.. He had an amazing collection of baseball caps from each Team...But we lost touch over the years as you do....

@Star Wolf Medicine Woman: At least you've been involved in racing on a personal level. Just don't go near a NASCAR race, especially with all the fist fights and extracurricular crap that goes on now that sadly is more exciting than a lot of the racing. At least NASCAR's last race until February is this weekend.

Also, the Audi Matrix beam and Laserlight headlight stuff is currently unable to be used in NA unless it's on their race cars because of laws and rules that have been on the books for road cars since 1968, and are outdated compared to the EU's regs. That's also the difficulty with getting a lot of their diesel engines the US. At least they have good forced induction gasoline engines for sale everywhere, including the US.

But yeah, NASCAR sucks with their "entertainment" marketing, their championship format has been a joke since 2004, and both NASCAR and F1 are to political to follow as a die-hard fan for my tastes, so I follow road racing. At least there Audi and everyone else who races can say that they race technology that they sell.
